Such commitment has entrenched us in our current position as an EMS provider, servicing major OEMs/ MNCs in medium to high-end applications wherein the standards of quality and service reliability, as well as consistency are critical but not easily achieved by other EMS providers.
Track record and niche position as an EMS provider for medium to high-end and performance-critical applications
We have established an institutional track record and have carved out a niche position in the region of Asia ex-Japan in the provision contract manufacturing services for certain medium to high-end product segments. These mainly include applications in aerospace-avionic, medical analytical instruments. With our track record, experience and manufacturing capabilities, we believe we have managed to build barriers against new competition in our specialized areas.
Qualified EMS provider to the aerospace-avionics industry, including aerospace AS9100:2004
Our subsidiary, AMC is aerospace AS9100:2004 certified, and is thus well-positioned as an EMS provider to the aerospace industry, especially to major aerospace companies/system providers. The achievement of AS9100:2004 certification entails stringent requirements which we believe creates high competitive barriers to entry. There would also be high supplier development costs generally associated with qualifying new suppliers, especially given high-end requirements on technology, quality, and experience/track record.
High quality standards in manufacturing facilities
We have instituted stringent quality control and assurance standards, systems and procedures in our manufacturing plants. Our plants in Singapore and Bintan have achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification. We view the implementation of IPC-A-610 Class 3 workmanship standards as critical for our projects servicing the aerospace avionics and medical instrumentation industries, and competitive edge for future new projects. Full turnkey with integrated manufacturing solutions
We are an integrated EMS provider, and generally undertake most of our projects on a turnkey basis. We undertake a comprehensive and wide range of manufacturing services, from product design involvement to the final delivery of products.
Operational efficiency with SAP System
For imporved efficiency and tighter control on production planning and execution, we have deployed SAP in all our plants and in our corporate office. SAP gives better visibility on the production status and profitability of our operations at any point of time.
Cost efficient operations and flexible manufacturing set-up
Cost efficiencies in our manufacturing operations, and in our administrative and support functions have enabled us to maintain our price competitiveness whilst achieving healthy profit margins. We view this as part of our offensive positioning to sustain and enhance the growth of our business, revenues and market share, and on the other hand as defensive positioning against competition. One of the main benefits derived from our overseas expansion is lower overall costs, particularly in comparison to other EMS providers in our business areas which are based in North America, Europe and higher-cost countries in Asia. We are also able to benefit from higher economies of scale as a result of our business expansion.
The manufacturing requirement for our products and services relating mainly to aerospace-avionics, medical instrumentation have mostly in the medium-to-high-mix and low-to-medium-volume production runs. we have achieved operating and cost efficiencies in catering to such manufacturing requirements.
Strategic geographical diversification
The geographical diversification of our manufacturing plants provides us with related locational advantages such as lower labour costs and access to a large pool of labour, close proximity to our customers, and other potential efficiencies and costs savings. Close proximity to our customers enables us to forge closer working relationships and to become a more effective, time-efficient and cost efficient component of their manufacturing outsourcing and supply chain. Geographical diversification also allows us the flexibility it resource utilization and moderates the impact of location-based risks.
